As a Louisville family photographer, some of my most favorite sessions happen in the comfort of my clients' homes. When someone lets us into their home, we get a behind the scenes peek at what the family is like. It's equal parts comfortable, vulnerable, and genuine. A few months ago, Alex and I sat down to talk through why we loved our jobs. We wanted to dig deep, dig past it just being a fun and creative outlet. We discovered that everything we do is about legacy. It's about documenting and preserving family history, and we do not take that responsibility lightly. We have an obligation to history to tell your story warmly and authentically. There is no better setting for telling that story than in the comfort of your own home....unmade beds, dirty dishes, yoga pants and oh so much love!
To the Walker Family, we are so grateful that they opened their home to us. The whole family could not have been more lovely and easy to work with. Benton was a ball of energy and sass, while Maddox was as laid back as they come. Kelly and I have had a few conversations back and forth regarding her session. I wanted to share a bit of an email I wrote to her and that explains how we feel about this session.
We hope you are inspired to document your family in a very real way. No more waiting for a time when you aren't as busy, when your house is cleaner, or when you feel thinner...because perfect is overrated, and reality is such a better story! Let's get together and talk about the legacy you are leaving behind and make sure your family story is recorded for future generations!
