As a traveling wedding photographer, I never stop feeling incredibly honored when asked by a couple to travel for their wedding. This particular wedding was just five hours north to St. Joe Michigan. St. Joe is an adorable quaint little town on Lake Michigan. It seems like it is a bit of a weekend getaway from the hustle and bustle of Chicago.
I arrived early afternoon ready for the rehearsal dinner. That evening I was sitting inside the hotel having a drink with Laura's family. So many of the staff, and servers, and others kept asking us if we were going to head outside for the sunset. I thought, oh that's nice, but I've seen a lot of sunsets. After about the 6th person to ask, we decided we really ought to go check out that sunset! As we stepped outside we realized that the entire town had come out with their lawn chairs to witness the sun go down over Lake Michigan! It actually was quite beautiful. The best part is that when the sun had disappeared the crowd erupted in applause. How sweet is it that the biggest thing happening on Friday night in St. Joe Michigan is the sunset?! This was a great start to a beautiful wedding weekend.
