As a photographer, I've gotten into the habit of collecting new gear. I get so excited to see a box from B&H or Canon on my doorstep, but today I want to talk about some other products that get me excited. For this month's edition of Friday Finds, I thought I would highlight a few things that I can't live without. Well I CAN live without them, but I really wouldn't ever want to! I am a sucker for beauty products. Cleansers, lotions, make-up, masques...I'm completely addicted. These are some of my favorites right now.
Dream Cream by Lush Cosmetics
Made with oat milk, lavender, and rose water, this body lotion is rich and creamy. I've been on medicines in the past that really tend to dry out my skin, but this is the best all natural lotion I've found. Plus, it smells great!
Humidity Rx by Color Proof
I actually just discovered this product when another photographer posted it in a Facebook group. As a wedding photographer, I am working outside all summer in heat and humidity. Often times, by the end of the wedding day my hair has grown bigger and frizzier! Last weekend, I used this product on a really humid wedding day, and I was pleasantly surprised. It really did work! It kept the frizz at bay and my waves in tact.
Pro Longwear Concealer by Mac Cosmetics
This concealer as been my go to for probably the last 5 years. I have tried all kinds of concealers that promise to cover dark under eyes, but nothing lived up to it's promises. If you are looking for a concealer with full coverage that will last all day...this is it!
Dry Remedy Oil by Aveda
I've had bleach on the ends of my hair for several years now, so they tend to get kind of dry. I will use about 4 drops of this dry oil and comb it through the ends of my towel dried hair. It keeps my hair looking soft and shiny instead of dull and straw-like. I stock up on this stuff when I find an Aveda salon.
Ladylike Nail Polish by Essie
I'm sort of a nail polish snob. I only use Essie because it lasts well over a week and doesn't chip. I only use opaque colors that do not have any glitter or sparkle, but even their opaque colors leave my nails super shiny! This particular color was bought for me by my best friend Shannon when I got engaged. She thought it would go well with my rose gold ring. She was right. It's a gray-pink and it looks great if you have a lighter skin tone like I do.
Olaplex Hair Perfector
I recently went from my natural dark brunette color to an ash blonde. I found an amazing stylist in Louisville and she can balayage and blend like none other! When she colored my hair, she used Olaplex and I fell in love. You use this product before shampooing and leave it in for several minutes while it repairs and multiplies the bonds in your hair. If you use it once a week you will notice a huge difference in the texture and health of your hair! Check out Hair and Makeup by Amie for your next cut and color and grab a bottle of Olaplex while you're at it.
Gold Couture by Juicy
For the longest time I had a perfume that I loved and never veered away from. It was Ralph Lauren, Hot. A few years ago they discontinued it and Alex found one last full bottle on eBay for a decent price. Once that was gone, it was time for me to retire my old scent and find a new one. I was buying some eye liner at Sephora when they gave me a sample of Gold Couture. I love the scent. It's sweet with wild berries and honeysuckle, but also a bit musky with amber, caramel, and vanilla. It smells delicious and my Alex thinks so too ;)
Well there you have it...a few of my favorite things! (yes I am resisting the urge to break out into Broadway show tunes). I hope you get a chance to try a few new products. Make sure you tell me about the things YOU can't live without! Leave me a comment, I want to hear about the products that you love!
