We arrived in Lexington, KY at the rehearsal and Ashley told us that their limo broke down and one of the bridesmaid left her dress in Illinois. This among a few other things that didn't quite go as planned. Yet she had a smile on her face! what?! I said, are you okay? Do you need anything? And she said...I'm great! We'll figure it out. Teach me your ways Ashley...how to find humor when things get a little crazy. Well, she was right! They figured it out and everything was great. Beautiful even! (shout out to FedEx for express shipping a bridesmaid dress).
Ashley and Brad met sort of by accident. Brad had bought a few tickets to the Avett Brothers show in Indianapolis assuming he would find a friend to go with him. When everyone had plans, his friend, Wiley, had a friend from college that is one of the biggest Avett fans ever. Wiley invited Ashley and assured her that Brad was cool (and also assured her mother that Brad was harmless).
So Ashley drove all the way from Illinois to see a concert with a stranger. They met for a drink before the show, sang every song at the top of their lungs, and didn't want the night to end. She didn't know she was coming for a blind date but accidentally ended up on the best date of her life!
The two didn't stop talking (ie texting) after the night they met. They made plans to see each other again and again and again. Brad says he had no doubt that she was the person he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.
He worries about all the details, she is full of life and carefree. They love live music and breweries, and he taught her about all things Kentucky. Both have an incredible sense of humor which has allowed them to make some pretty awesome friends over the years. Seriously, this wedding party hands down gave the best toasts at the reception..."LOL" worthy. In case it wasn't obvious, Ashley packed up her belongings moved to Kentucky. It didn't take long for Brad to win over the other man in Ashley's life, her dog Bentley. She is still trying to convince Brad to stop hogging all of the closet space!
These two are total foodies. Ashley's parents also cater weddings. While they didn't cater this one, they threw one heck of a wedding party! We're talking chicken and waffles, local KY beer, crispy french fries, and literally the best salad I've ever had. (And that's saying a lot because I actually hate salad). Also fresh baked cookies, local bourbon and honey ice-cream, and nearly every kind of cake you could imagine. You'll notice that they paid attention to every last detail. Because Ashley is a nanny and LOVES kids, she even set up kids tables with fun gift boxes full of games and candy.
Happy Wedding and Happy Marriage to such a fun couple! We are honored that you chose us to celebrate your big day. To love and Avett Bros!
